Banda Brisa do Norte formed in Aracaju, Sergipe in 1994. Their song "Menino Eu Te Amo" became particularly well-known, along with tracks like "Pirigetes" and "A Gente Briga, A Gente Chora, mas A Gente Se Ama." They released albums including "Estrela Azul" in 1994 and "Menino Eu Te Amo" in 1997.
Altemar Dutra was the band's vocalist, with Flavio Nascimento on guitar, Valteir Costa on drums, and Nilton Caldas on bass. Their music drew from forró, samba, and reggae styles.
In 2005, Altemar Dutra faced domestic violence allegations. The band continued performing and released "Um Novo Tempo" in 2008.
