Banda Bucha de Sena formed in the early 1990s in Sena, Sinaloa, with drummer Fernando Rubio and vocalist José Guadalupe Esqueda among the original members. They broke through in 1996 with their debut album 'Temporal,' whose title track became a hit in Mexico and the United States.
In 2004, vocalist Esqueda was shot and killed in a nightclub shooting. The band continued with a new frontman, Mario Quintero. Later, in 2009, singer Jorge Santa Cruz was arrested on drug trafficking charges, which led to several members leaving the group.
They've released over 20 albums that mix traditional Sinaloan banda with romantic ballads and more modern sounds.
