Banda Cilada

Banda Cilada came together in Rio de Janeiro during the mid-1990s, with Beto Jamaica as their frontman. They started out playing local bars and events, building a following with a mix of samba, funk, and hip-hop. Their lyrics often took aim at social and political issues, which gave them a reputation for challenging norms.

Their debut album 'Fora da Casinha' arrived in 2001 and included the track 'Fala Sério,' which became a hit in Brazilian funk circles. That song helped push them toward wider recognition and led to touring around the country. Along the way, they faced criticism from some quarters over their language and subject matter, but they kept performing with the same direct style.

Later albums like 'Segura, Malandro' and 'Funk Brasileiro' showed them working in reggae, rock, and electronic sounds alongside their funk foundation. They never really softened their approach, sticking with the raw, confrontational energy that defined their early shows.
