Banda Ciúmes formed in Salvador, Bahia in the mid-1990s with Pedrinho on vocals and guitar, Valmir Borges on bass, and Marcos Vinícius on drums. They started playing what's often called pagode music, a Brazilian style with roots in samba. Their debut album came out in 1997.
Their song "Você Me Usou" became particularly well-known, appearing on a 2005 album of the same name. They kept recording through the 2000s and 2010s, putting out albums like "Manda Ver" in 2002 and "Som do Gueto" in 2012.
The lineup changed around 2010 when Val and Marcos Vinícius left. They were replaced by Márcio "Marquinhos" and Danilo "Dan" Freitas. Pedrinho stayed with the band through these changes.
