Banda Clan formed in Fortaleza in 1998, with Cláudio Lima on vocals and accordion. They started mixing electric instruments into traditional forró, which didn't sit well with some purists at first. But their live shows had enough energy to win people over.
In 2002, the single "Bons Tempos" broke through nationally. That song, along with tracks like "Tente Me Entender," helped push them into the mainstream. They kept recording albums like "Pra Você Dançar" and "Na Farra," and played live sets that got released as "Ao Vivo em Fortaleza."
Lima remained the central figure, with Jardel Nunes on bass, Luciano Lima on guitar, and Igor Araújo on drums. They worked with other Brazilian artists like Ivete Sangalo and Xand Avião, folding bits of pop and rock into the forró foundation without letting it become something else entirely.
