Banda Desejo Proibido formed in 2015 in Campina Grande, Paraíba, with vocalist Simone Souza. They play forró, a style from Brazil's northeast, and their 2016 song "Um Drink No Bar" became a breakout hit. Other tracks like "Matemática" and "Amor Proibido" followed.
The band's lineup includes accordion players Caio Souza and Dinho do Acordeon, along with Paulinho de Tarrachinha on tarrachinha, Emerson Lima on bass, and Gilson Naipes on drums. Their music sometimes mixes in axé and pop touches, but stays grounded in forró rhythms.
They've played to large crowds in Brazil, though the existing history cuts off mid-sentence about 2019, so that part remains unclear. What's certain is they put out songs people know by name.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
