Banda Discípulos Camboriú formed in Camboriú, Brazil in 1998. They're a gospel band that came up in the coastal city, though the early years weren't easy. Money was tight, and some people around them weren't sure about what they were doing.
Things changed in 2003 when they put out the album "Edificado em Ti." The title track, "Edificado Em Ti," caught on and became something of an anthem in Brazilian Christian circles. That record pushed them into a more visible spot among gospel bands in the country.
Their music drew criticism along the way. Some religious figures felt their lyrics were too direct or that their live shows leaned too much toward spectacle. There were accusations that they were commercializing faith. They kept releasing albums after that, like "Viva" in 2006 and "Deus Proverá" in 2014.
The current lineup includes Marcelo Santos on vocals, Bruno Santos on drums, Rafael Soares on keyboards, André Liz on bass, and Wesley Souza on guitar.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
