Banda DOG formed in Brasília in 1983 with Renato Russo handling vocals and lyrics. Their sound didn't settle into one category, pulling from punk and new wave while Russo wrote about alienation and love in ways that connected with listeners at the time.
They put out albums like 'Vermelho' in 1987 and 'Blusinha Azul' two years later. The band's lineup shifted around, but included musicians like Marcelo Bonfá on drums, Negrete on bass, and Dado Villa-Lobos on guitar alongside Russo.
Some of their songs that people still know include 'Dog' and 'É Fogo Na Jacutinga.' Their music had an experimental quality that stood out in Brazilian rock during that period.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
