Banda Encontro formed in the early 2000s with vocalists Emerson, Neguinho, and Igor, guitarist Cacau, bassist Renan, and drummer Vitor. Their 2006 debut album, named after the song 'Não Deixe de Amar,' found a wide audience in Brazil. That title track, a ballad about holding onto love, became their signature piece.
In 2012, the band faced plagiarism claims regarding 'Não Deixe de Amar,' which they denied. Emerson, one of the original vocalists, left the group in 2018. They continued with a new vocalist named Bruno, keeping the rest of the lineup intact. They released several albums after their debut, including 'Um Novo Capítulo' in 2008 and 'Por Todos os Tempos' in 2010.
