Banda Etros formed in Fortaleza, Brazil in 1997 with Fábio Etro on vocals, Ícaro Wilson on acoustic guitar, and Alexandre Mendonça on bass. They later expanded to include Rafael Castro on electric guitar, Rodrigo Ramalho on drums, and Renato Rocha on keyboards.
Their 2003 debut album 'Cartas Pro Futuro' brought them national attention, with the title track becoming a radio staple. Other songs like 'A Culpa' and 'Efeito Moral' showed their acoustic folk-pop style with Brazilian touches.
In 2006, Fábio Etro was injured in a car accident, forcing the band to cancel shows and delay their second album.
