Banda Faniquito was formed in 1997 as part of the Brazilian teen telenovela 'Malhação.' The original lineup included Maria Eduarda Basilio and Roberta Rodrigues on vocals, with Bruno Gissoni on guitar and vocals, Thiago Martins on keyboards, Rubens Caribé on bass, and Pedro Amarelo on drums.
Their 1998 single 'Ao Checheche' became a national phenomenon in Brazil, topping charts and becoming a party staple. Other songs like 'Blá, Blá, Blá' and 'Isso me da um faniquito' followed a similar pattern of catchy melodies and upbeat rhythms.
The band split in 2002 but reunited in 2008. They released the album 'Ao Checheche' and maintained a presence in Brazilian pop culture through their connection to the television show that spawned them.
