Banda Herdeiros do Tempo formed in São Paulo in 2001 around vocalist and guitarist Michel Simões, bassist Marcelo Pinheiro, and drummer Ricardo Coelho. They started with an interest in traditional Brazilian rhythms like samba and forró, but also wanted to work with more contemporary sounds.
Their 2004 debut album included the song "Câmera Fantasma," which became their breakout track. The song's melody and lyrics about a love that seems to exist outside of time connected with listeners across Brazil. Other songs from their catalog include "Dia-a-Dia," "Espelhos Quebrados," "Lamentos de Areia," and "Portas e Cortinas."
In 2010, it came out that "Câmera Fantasma" was actually an adaptation of an older song by another Brazilian artist, not an original composition. They've released several albums since, mostly with titles playing on the word "tempo," and their lineup grew to include guitarist Hélcio Milito and keyboardist Leandro Silva.
