Banda Hora Nacional formed in Fortaleza in 1982 with Alexandre Linhares on vocals, Ruy Barata on guitar, Paulinho Rocha on bass, and Jota Oliveira on drums. They put out their first album two years later, and their song 'Azul dos meus olhos' became a national hit. The band's sound mixed Brazilian rhythms with rock and pop, and their live shows were known for being energetic.
Their lyrics and stage presence sometimes drew criticism, but they kept a loyal fanbase. They released several albums through the late 80s and early 90s, including 'Cê tá maluco' and 'Só pra dançar'. Other songs like 'O Destino Nos Separou' and 'Vou Dançar' also got attention. The band's run lasted about a decade before they stopped working together.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
