Banda Jumento Desembestado formed in 1992 in Salvador, Bahia. Their lineup included Neguinho do Samba on vocals and guitar, Mestre Bimba on percussion, Tico Santa Cruz on bass, and Gilmar on drums. They worked with Afro-Brazilian rhythms and elements of samba, reggae, funk, and rock.
In 1998, the band released "Passaro de Fogo," which became a breakthrough single. They put out albums like Vida Louca in 1995, Fogo na Babilônia in 1998, and Ao Vivo in 2001. Other songs in their catalog include "Diga Pra Mim," "Metamorfose," and "Eu Te Amo, Te Amo, Te Amo."
Their live performances were known for being energetic, and their lyrics sometimes drew criticism. They kept recording into the 2000s with albums like Paz na Terra in 2004 and Jumento Elétrico in 2009.
