Banda Lamarcas

Banda Lamarca formed in São Paulo in the late 1960s, a time when Brazil's political climate was tense. Their music reflected that atmosphere, with lyrics that didn't shy away from social commentary. They kept playing anyway, often in underground settings where their shows became acts of quiet resistance.

Their song 'Os Dias Ainda São' became particularly well-known, touching on themes of persistence that resonated with listeners. Other tracks like 'Recomeçar' and 'Treze' followed similar paths, built around straightforward arrangements that let the lyrics carry weight. The band's lineup included Agra on vocals and guitar, Sergio on bass, Betão on drums, and César on keyboards.

They released their first album, 'Terra,' in 1972. Later records included 'Pequeno Dicionário da Alma Brasileira' in 1974 and 'Palavra' in 1977. The music wasn't especially complex, but it connected because it felt honest about the times. People listened because it sounded like it came from their own streets and conversations.

After the late 1970s, the band's activity slowed. Their songs, especially 'Os Dias Ainda São,' continued to be played and remembered, often cited as part of Brazil's musical landscape from that period.
