Banda Magia Musical formed in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil in 1998, with Rafael Almeida on vocals, Bruno Mariano on guitar, and Marcos Aurélio on bass. They started playing forró, the traditional dance music from northeastern Brazil that's built around accordion, triangle, and zabumba drum.
Their 2003 debut album featured the title track 'Amizade Que Virou Paixão,' which became their first major hit. Other songs like 'Botando Galha' and 'Camuflado de Amor' also found an audience in Brazil's forró scene.
They released live albums like 'Ao Vivo em Fortaleza' in 2005 and a compilation in 2007. Over time, their lineup expanded to include accordionist Damião Barbosa and percussionist Adriano Jorge, and their sound incorporated elements of sertanejo and pop alongside their forró foundation.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
