Banda Ophir formed in 1992 when brothers José and Abelardo Ophir put together a small ensemble in Chihuahua, Mexico. Their sound worked with the traditional banda instrumentation of trumpet, tuba, snare drum, and accordion. Things changed for them in 1996 with the release of the single "Escândalo de Amor," which became a hit and pushed the band into wider recognition. That song and others like "Lucas 5" and "Nosso Deus" are part of their catalog.
They released several albums in the years that followed, including "Adiós Amor" in 1997 and "Corazón de Fuego" in 2001. In 2006, the band was involved in a legal dispute with a former member over copyright claims, which created some public difficulty for them at the time.
Their music, which includes songs like "Eu Sou a Sua Casa," continues to have an audience.
