Banda Pescaio formed in Lisbon in 1999, with Nuno Rafael on vocals and guitar, João Delgado on bass, and Tiago Leitão on drums. They put out their first album, "Real," in 2006. Later records like "Ordem Natural" and "Carnaval" came out in 2009 and 2012, and the 2016 album "A Luz Que Me Acendeu" shares its name with one of their better-known songs.
Their music pulls from rock and folk, with some Portuguese traditional sounds mixed in. The song "A Luz Que Me Acendeu" got some attention around 2016. Other tracks in their catalog include "A Tua Mão," "Continuar," and "Emanuel."
In 2010, bassist João Delgado was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The band kept working after that. They released a self-titled album in 2020.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
