Valença's lyrics and lifestyle drew criticism from conservative quarters. In 1981, the band was arrested during a São Paulo concert on allegations of promoting drug use. These incidents became part of their story alongside their music.
Their catalog includes albums like 'Mordida do Cachorro Louco' from 1979 and 'Cavalo de Pau' from 1980. Other musicians who played with the band included keyboardist Walter Queiroz and percussionist Carlinhos Brown, though Valença remained the constant presence.
