Banda Phix

Banda Phix formed in Mexico City in 1992, with Josué Padilla and Emmanuel Servín handling vocals. They built a following through steady touring, playing live shows that earned them a reputation for energy. A year later, their single "Don't Get Me Wrong" caught on with listeners, becoming their most recognizable track. The song's straightforward rhythm and direct lyrics connected in a way that earlier material hadn't.

That breakthrough led to wider recognition, though the band's association with banda music drew some criticism from outside the genre. They kept recording through the mid-90s, putting out albums like "Que Quieres Tu" alongside other songs such as "Modern love" and "Sunday morning." Their sound stayed grounded in the banda tradition while incorporating pop elements that gave songs like "Revolution" a different texture.

By the late 1990s, Banda Phix had settled into a consistent pattern of releases and performances. They never quite replicated the chart impact of "Don't Get Me Wrong," but maintained a steady presence in regional Mexican music. The group's lineup stabilized around Padilla and Servín, who continued to front the band for years afterward.
