Banda Quixanayah formed in Salvador, Bahia in the early 2000s. Their music mixed axé with rock, reggae, and samba. They played small venues and festivals before signing a record deal in 2005.
Their debut album 'O Canto da Resistência' included 'Como Pode Haver?', a song that criticized police brutality and social inequality. The track faced censorship attempts but became popular. Another song, 'Reggae é de Paz', appears in their catalog.
Later albums included 'Axé Loro' in 2007 and 'Liberdade' in 2011. The band's lineup has included Fábio Passarinho on vocals, Alexandre Pires on guitar, Danilo Castro on bass, Waldyr Júnior on drums, and Dayane Luiza on percussion.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
