Their name comes from the road, R40, that runs between their hometown of Dourados in Mato Grosso do Sul and the state capital, Campo Grande. The group includes Roni Rigon on vocals, Rick Santos on guitar, Rafael Almeida on bass, and Rafael Mendes on drums.
They put out albums like 'Agora Eu Sei' in 2009 and 'R40 - Acústico' in 2013. Songs such as 'Agora Eu Sei' and 'Lábios de Mel' have been popular with fans. In 2018, Roni Rigon was arrested after an incident involving a concert promoter, which led to some show cancellations.
The band has kept recording and performing since then, with other releases including 'Banda R40 - O Bom do Sertanejo' in 2015.
