Banda Radar Quatro formed in Brazil in the late 1990s, with vocalist Fernanda Abreu at the front. They came together after the earlier band Banda 4.0, joined by guitarist Hélio Matheus, bassist Nei D'Paula, and drummer Glauco Mendes. Their self-titled debut album in 1998 included the hit "Eu Só Queria Te Dizer," which helped them find a national audience.
After their second album "Garota Nacional" didn't land as well, Matheus and D'Paula left in 2003. Abreu and Mendes brought in guitarist Marcelo Lobato and bassist Céu, and they put out "Sim, Sim, Não" the following year. Abreu's public criticism of the Brazilian music industry in 2006 made things harder for the band, affecting their airplay and bookings.
They kept recording after that, with songs like "Não Tente Me Prender Essa Noite" and "Viver Pra Valer" in their catalog. Abreu's voice stayed at the center of their sound, which mixed pop and rock with Brazilian rhythms.
