Banda Rafah is a Mexican regional music group that started in the early 2000s in Sinaloa. They're led by vocalist Rafael "Rafah" Osuna Beltrán, and their lineup includes musicians like José Luis Torres on accordion and Jesús Adrián Lizarraga on drums. The band built their following playing small venues when they were starting out.
Their song "Contigo Sei Que Sou Forte" became something of an anthem in the genre. They've released albums like "El Privilegio" in 2005 and "Contigo Sé Que Soy Fuerte" in 2011, along with other titles including "El Mundo Me Vio Cambiar" and "Soy Tuyo." Other songs in their catalog include "Incomparável Amor" and "Meus Passos São Teus."
Some of their material has drawn criticism for lyrics that some listeners interpret as referencing organized crime, though the band has generally focused on themes of love and resilience in their music. They've maintained a presence in regional Mexican music with their blend of traditional instrumentation and contemporary rhythms.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
