Banda Rinite Alérgica

Banda Rinite Alérgica formed in Recife, Brazil in 2003, with a lineup that included vocalist and guitarist Ale Sater, bassist Daniel Matos, drummer Rafael Ferreira, and keyboardist João Pedro. Their name, which translates to 'Allergic Rhinitis Band,' gives a sense of their offbeat approach. They started out playing a mix of punk, reggae, and ska, and had the kind of early struggles with gigs and money that a lot of bands face.

Their 2006 debut album 'A Vida é Dela' included the song 'Coração de Zumbie,' which caught on and helped them find a wider audience. Other tracks like 'Chupando Sangue' and 'Coração Envenenado' show their taste for dark, sometimes theatrical themes. They kept releasing albums over the next decade, including 'Zé do Caroço' in 2008 and 'O Circo e a Prostituta' in 2012.

Their lyrics often touched on social issues and everyday absurdities, which sometimes stirred things up. They built a reputation for energetic live shows and played festivals in Brazil and elsewhere. While their sound has elements of pop and rock in it too, that initial blend of punk, reggae, and ska remained a recognizable part of what they did.
