Banda Rock Play formed in São Paulo in the late 1990s with Beto Lee on vocals and guitar, Ricco Viana on guitar, Edi Rock on bass, and Juninho on drums. Their first album came out in 1999, followed by 'Do Começo ao Fim' in 2001 and 'Eu Só Queria' in 2003.
Their 2003 album 'Eu Só Queria' gave them their biggest hit with the title track, a ballad about unrequited love that became popular across Brazil. Other songs like 'Se for pra ser será' and 'A gente pode ser feliz' also found an audience. They recorded an acoustic session for MTV in 2006 and released a compilation called '10 Anos' in 2009.
In 2001, their song 'Fechado para Balanço' drew criticism and was temporarily pulled from radio. They put out another self-titled album in 2019.
