Banda Roop formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1995, playing a mix of axé and pagode. Their name translates to "Circle of Destiny." The original members included Dinho on vocals, Marquinhos on guitar, Paulinho on drums, and Niltinho on bass.
In 1996 they released their debut album "Axé Bahia," which featured the song "Estou Aqui." That track helped them reach a national audience. They've put out more than a dozen albums since, including "O Trem do Pagode" in 1998 and "O Canto da Cidade" in 2002.
They've worked with other Brazilian artists like Ivete Sangalo and Daniela Mercury. The group has seen some lineup changes over time, but Dinho, Marquinhos, Paulinho, and Niltinho have remained at the core.
