Banda Root's formed in 1993 in Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso, when a few friends started playing together. They put out their first album in 1998, simply called 'Banda Root,' and followed it with 'Raízes' in 2000. Their song 'Meu Pedacinho de Sol' came out in 2003 and became something of an anthem for them.
Beto Moreno handles vocals and guitar, Léo Guimarães plays bass, and Alex Alvin is on drums. They've worked with other Brazilian musicians like Gilberto Gil and Paralamas do Sucesso. Their later albums include 'Verdade' from 2006 and 'Livre' from 2009.
