Banda Sem Sucesso formed in 1996 in São Carlos, Brazil, with a lineup that included guitarist and vocalist André Abujamra, bassist Flávio Basso, drummer Luiz Thunderbird, and vocalist and percussionist Iara Rennó. They called themselves the "Band Without Success" from the start, which set the tone for their approach.
Their debut album "O Rato e a Girafa" came out in 1998. The band's live shows developed a reputation for chaotic energy, and their lyrics sometimes got them into trouble.
Their music mixed samba, funk, and rock in ways that didn't fit neatly into categories. They kept releasing albums, including one simply called "Sem Sucesso."
