Banda Semáforo formed in Sinaloa in 1994, with Lorenzo Méndez as their vocalist. They played local festivals for years before their 2004 album "Enamorado" brought them wider attention. The title track from that album became a hit, and their song "Fernanda" eventually turned into something of a standard in banda circles.
Their music includes tracks like "A sete chaves" and "Do Jeito Que Eu Sempre Quis," which follow the banda tradition of romantic themes and danceable rhythms. They released several albums in the mid-2000s, including "Al Cuadrado" in 2006.
The band maintained the lyrics were misunderstood. They kept performing through various challenges, including internal conflicts and rumors about drug use that circulated in the press.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
