Banda Taus formed in Tijuana in 2012, a Mexican regional group that built a following with straightforward banda arrangements and direct lyrics. Their debut album "El Cartel del Komander" came out that same year and included songs like "Renunciar" that became early signatures. The band's frontman is Alfredo Ríos, who goes by "El Komander" and writes most of their material.
They followed that debut with several more albums over the next few years, including "Levantando Polvadera" in 2013 and "El Komander del Pueblo" in 2014. Other songs in their catalog include "Em Mim Primeiro," "Ir Além," and "Decisão." The group's lineup includes Adrián Rubio on tuba, Manuel Rivera on drums, Ricardo Ruiz on trumpet, and Miguel Ángel Jiménez on saxophone.
In 2016, some attention turned to their song "El Narco de Sinaloa" when its lyrics were criticized for how they handled drug trafficking themes. The band kept recording and performing through that period, maintaining their place in the regional music circuit without much shift in their basic approach.
