Banda Uai Brasil formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2006, with an original lineup that included vocalists Josué Gomes and Priscila Senna, percussionist Neto Mendonça, guitarist Tinho dos Santos, bassist Helbert Guedes, and drummer Nenel. They started playing small venues and festivals, mixing traditional forró with pop, rock, and samba elements.
Their 2010 live album 'Ao Vivo em Salvador' helped build their audience, and songs like 'Fuzuê' became popular at parties. In 2011, 'Fuzuê' faced plagiarism accusations that led to legal issues, though the band eventually proved the song was original. They followed with albums like 'Galopeira' in 2013 and 'Forró Pra Dançar' in 2016.
The lineup changed over time, with Fabiana Mendonça joining on vocals alongside Josué Gomes. Their music, including tracks like 'Não Volto' and 'Nova Swingueira,' kept the forró rhythm central while incorporating contemporary sounds. They became known for energetic performances that drew younger listeners to the genre.
