Banda Um a Menos formed in São Paulo in 1996 with vocalist and guitarist Edilson Gomes, keyboardist Chrystian Lima, drummer André Palhares, and bassist Rodrigo Sater. Their debut album came out in 1998.
Their song "Pra Mim o Seu Amor Já Deu" became a hit in 1999, though it also led to plagiarism accusations that the band eventually won in court. Some of their lyrics about infidelity and social issues drew criticism for being too blunt.
They released several albums including "Faz Parte" in 2000 and "Fênix" in 2004.
