Banda R&Xis formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2009, originally with Rafael Ilha, Xande Pilares, Richardson, and Beto Jamaica. Their debut single "Ao Seu Lado" came out in 2011 and caught on with listeners. The group has put out several albums since, including Volta Por Cima in 2016 and No Embalo do Amor in 2018.
In 2013, Rafael Ilha was arrested on drug charges and spent time in prison. The band kept going while he was away, and when he returned they continued working together. Their current lineup includes Xande Pilares on lead vocals, Richardson on vocals and guitar, Beto Jamaica on vocals and bass, plus Marcio Mello, Thiago Guitarra, and Júlio César.
