Dare formed in 1985 around brothers Darren and Wayne Darlington, who brought in vocalist Chris Braide and drummer Greg Roberts. Their debut album 'Out of the Silence' arrived in 1988, featuring the track 'Days Gone By' that became a calling card for their atmospheric sound.
That sound drew from 1980s new wave sources like The Cure and Depeche Mode, built on synths and melancholic lyrics.
Later years saw guitarist Vinny Burns join, and the band kept recording and touring. In 2018 they released a compilation called 'The Days Gone By: The Best of Dare', collecting songs like 'Abandon' and 'Into the Fire' from across their work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
