Bar do Moe's formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s, taking their name from the bar in The Simpsons. Their debut single "Babacas Sem Moral" became something of an anthem, with lyrics that spoke directly to frustrations in Brazilian society. The song's title translates roughly to "Morally Bankrupt Bastards," which gives you a sense of their approach.
Their sound was raw punk and hardcore, delivered with plenty of energy. They released several albums including Babacas Sem Moral in 2002, Nem Tudo É Como Parece in 2004, and Nação Zumbi in 2012. Other songs like "Cãozinho Zumbi" and "Eles Tão Te Roubando" continued in that vein of social commentary set to aggressive music.
The band faced criticism for their explicit lyrics and confrontational performances, which led to some concert cancellations and legal challenges. Their lineup stayed fairly consistent with Serginho "Maluko" Augusto on vocals, Ezequiel "Big" Santos on guitar, Rafael "Rafão" Akita on bass, and Fernando "Fred" Celauro on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
