Background notes

Archive material and source history

Barizon was an Italian electronic duo active in the 1990s, made up of Simone Berti and Roberto Zenati. They came out of the rave scene around that time, and their track 'Streets of Rage' became a big dance hit in Europe. It had the kind of driving beat and melodic lift that worked on the floor.

They put out more singles and an album called 'Phases' later in the decade. There was also a record named 'The One' that went in a more experimental direction. At one point they had a legal issue with Sega over the 'Streets of Rage' name, which got settled out of court.

Berti performed as DJ Stile, and Zenati worked as DJ Prezioso. Their music, including the song 'Summertime', still gets played in some clubs from that era.
