Barker Gurvitz Army formed in 1974 with members who had previously been in Humble Pie. The group included drummer Jerry Shirley, guitarist Clem Clempson, and bassist Greg Ridley. They released a self-titled debut album that same year.
Their song 'Inside Of Me' came out in 1974. It had a haunting melody and lyrics that touched on isolation and searching for something more. The track became one of their better-known pieces.
The band put out a couple more albums after their debut, including 'Man in the Middle' and 'Round and Round'. These records showed them moving toward a somewhat more soulful sound compared to their initial hard rock approach.
