Barleyjuice

Barleyjuice formed in London in the late 1970s with Kevin Eldon, Matt Deighton, and Stephen Best. Their early sound had a raw energy that drew from punk and folk, and they put out albums like 'Restless' in 1986 and 'Brighter Than a Thousand Suns' in 1989.

Their 1992 album 'Honey' included 'Potatoes,' a quirky song about the vegetable that became their most recognizable track. It caught on with listeners and helped bring the band wider attention, though its unconventional style also drew some criticism.

After that, Barleyjuice kept experimenting, mixing in jazz, classical, and electronic elements. This shift in direction lost them some fans while finding others, and they maintained a cult following through their willingness to try different approaches.
