Archive material and source history

Barnes & Barnes was the musical project of Bill Mumy, who played Will Robinson on 'Lost in Space,' and Robert Haimer. They started putting out records in the late 1970s, around the time punk and new wave were happening, but their thing was comedy and satire. Their first album was called 'VooDoo' in 1979.

The song's refrain about 'roly-poly fish heads' became a kind of novelty hit anyway. Other songs in their catalog include 'Boogie Woogie Amputee' and 'Cats,' which gives you a sense of their humor.

They made a few albums together, including 'Fish Heads and Other Delicacies' in 1981. Their live shows were known for being deliberately odd, with stage antics that confused as many people as they entertained.
