Barra Dolls formed in Goiânia in 2010 around sisters Mayara e Maraisa. Their 2015 single "Skinão Sertanejo" became a breakout hit, mixing sertanejo rhythms with pop elements. The title itself suggested this fusion, translating roughly to "Sertanejo Skin."
They faced criticism from some traditionalists who felt their modern approach diluted the genre's authenticity. The band kept working, releasing albums like "Em Nossas Mãos" in 2016 and "Elas Fizeram História" in 2018. Their songs include "Amor E Vício," "Eu Sou Mau Com Você?," and "A Volta do Rock N' Roll."
By 2021 they had put out "Baú de Histórias." The lineup grew to include Vanessa on backing vocals, Fernando on guitar, Emerson on bass, and Bruno on drums. Other tracks in their catalog are "Alice Travesti," "Andarilho," "Boate Vaca Louca," and "Dignidade."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
