Base 5 was a Portuguese pop-rock band that released three studio albums in the 1990s and early 2000s. Their 1994 song "A Última Carta" became a major hit in Portugal, helping establish them during that period. They also recorded tracks like "Cartaz" and "Deixa Pra Lá."
The band consisted of Pedro Oliveira on lead vocals and guitar, Gonçalo Pereira on bass, João Fernandes on drums, and Nuno Guimarães on keyboards. They put out their self-titled debut album in 1995, which included "A Última Carta." Two more albums followed in 1997 and 2000.
Base 5 disbanded in 2002 but reunited for a tour in 2014. Their music, particularly the ballad "A Última Carta," still gets airplay on Portuguese radio stations.
