Base da Canoa is a Brazilian duo formed in 2010 by Pedro Maffia and Luiz Felipe Martins. They came together in Rio de Janeiro with a shared interest in creating music that felt genuine to them, eventually developing a sound that pulls from folk, pop, and Brazilian rhythms.
Their song "A Lágrima" became their most recognizable track, a ballad that resonated with listeners for its emotional weight and simple melody. Other songs like "História da Base" and "Meu Destino" followed a similar path, built around acoustic arrangements and straightforward lyrics about personal experience.
They released their debut album "BDC" and later put out records titled "Coração" and "Oceano." Maffia handles most of the vocals and guitar work, while Martins adds harmonies and rhythmic support. The music doesn't try to reinvent anything, but it connects on its own terms.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
