Base Jam formed in Jakarta in 1994 with Sigit Wardana, Adon Saptowo, and Aris Achyat. They signed with Aksara Records the following year and released their debut album 'Base Jam '95.' The single 'Bukan Pujangga' from that album connected with listeners and helped establish the band.
Drummer Aris left in 1997 and was replaced by Dony Joeswan. The band continued recording, putting out albums like 'Terbang' in 1998 and 'Dunia' in 2001. Their song 'Bertahan' drew some criticism for its lyrics at the time.
