Basenji formed in 2013 with Eliot Sumner on vocals, Dan Rothman on bass, Charlie Rosen on guitar, and Chris Egan on drums. They put out their self-titled debut album in 2015, which drew some comparisons to Portishead and Massive Attack for its atmospheric sound.
A few years later, the single 'Can't Get Enough' became their breakout track. It had a hypnotic rhythm and Sumner's vulnerable vocal delivery that connected with listeners.
They released several EPs and another album called 'Phase' in 2019.
