Distance

It hasn't been too long

since I've been following the sun,

crossing streets with my eyes closed,

swimming the river alone. And I knew

how you felt

when you saw me dive in.

But what could I do?

I had my heart

set on it.

Some people have

a way

of searching for their end.

And most don't even know

they're looking for it.

Late in the night,

we'll pass each other by,

see each other for a moment

but it's only borrowed light.

And all I see is

distance.

And all I can feel is where

my heart is.

If you only knew

how hard it is,

I'd find my way home

through all of this.

One day you'll understand

when you swim the way I've gone.

You'll fill the streets with flowers.

You'll wake up with the sun.

And then you'll know

how I felt

when you saw me diving in.

I was looking for the dark.

I was trying to forget.

Cuz all I see is

distance.

And all I can feel is where

my heart is.

I'd find my way home

through all of this.
