Batone was a Brazilian band that formed in São Paulo in the late 1990s. The group included vocalist Tony Tornado, guitarist Paulinho Santos, bassist Hélio Gomes, and drummer Serginho Groisman. Their sound mixed pop, rock, and funk elements common in Brazilian popular music at the time.
In 1999, they released the single "Acidente na Rua Prof. Azevedo Marques," which became their breakthrough hit. The song was a ballad about a car accident, with Tornado's vocals carrying its emotional weight. Other tracks from around that period include "Acrobatas epiléticos," "Amarelo quase roxo," and "Aos poloneses do Brasil."
After their debut album in 1999, Batone put out several more records, including "Acidente" in 2001, "Palavra Cantada" in 2004, and "Tudo Que Eu Queria" in 2007. Their later work reportedly took on a more subdued tone compared to their earlier material.
