Bats & Mice formed at the University of Oxford in the early 2000s, with Amelia Dale, Emily Hayes, David Wilson, and James Falconer making up the original lineup. They focused on unaccompanied vocal arrangements from the start. Their 2005 single "Worst Comes To Worst" gained them wider attention with its haunting melody.
After Falconer left in 2008, the group continued and put out a second album called Night Visions in 2010. That record took a more experimental turn compared to their earlier work. They had released a self-titled debut in 2003 before their breakout single.
