Battalion formed in Lausanne in 1986, with Jean-Marc Calisesi on vocals, Joël Schafroth on guitar, Simion Freund on bass, and Alain Poget on drums. They were part of Switzerland's thrash metal scene, playing a raw and aggressive style. Their debut album "In Darkness" came out in 1988.
By 1990, they had signed with the German label Mausoleum Records. Albums like "Eternal Rage" in 1992 and "The Culling" in 1995 followed. Songs from this period include "Bomber" and "Dead Men Tell No Tales."
After some lineup changes and a period of less activity, Battalion returned in the 2000s with albums like "Imperator" in 2006 and "Warlord" in 2010. They kept playing thrash metal, with tracks such as "Beggars Right" and "Bullets & Death" in their catalog.
