BC Unidos formed in Vancouver in 2012, originally with Alex Maas on vocals and guitar, Michael Rault on bass, and Mike Bigelow on drums. Their first album, 'Way Back Home,' came out in 2013. The band's lineup shifted over time, with Rault leaving in 2014 and Bigelow departing in 2017, replaced by John Morand and Owen Pallett respectively.
Their 2016 album 'Take It Easy' included the title track featuring Ledinsky and U.S. Girls, which became a notable song for them. Other tracks like 'Bicycle' with Shungudzo and 'I'm a Dream' with Charli XCX followed. They released 'Love and Departure' in 2018 and 'The Shape of Things to Come' in 2022.
After a hiatus around 2018, BC Unidos returned to recording and performing. Their music often features collaborations, as heard on songs like 'Trouble In The Streets' with Carly Rae Jepsen.
